Wildlife

The Rez is home to wildlife both on the shore and in the water. The Rez offers great fishing and hunting opportunities. The water is filled with Black Bass, Largemouth Bass, Spotted Bass, Crappie, Bream, Catfish, Striped Bass, and Hybrid-Striped Bass. The Pearl River Waterfowl Refuge is located in the upper end of the Reservoir as well.

The Pear River Waterfowl Refuge and Wildlife Management Area is at the northern end of the Barnett Reservoir. The Refuge includes about 1,500 acres in total and provides a winter habitat for local and migratory waterfowl. The Refuge is owned by the Pearl River Water Supply District and is managed by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Park.
